Lots happening in May 2019
There are several events coming up in May after a month of creative work and recovery from Speechless!
First up, on May 3 at 6pm, Cat performing with her ensemble Decibel on a program of all Melbourne composers at the Melbourne Recital Centre, as part of the Metropolis New Music Festival, and as part of Decibel's 10 year celebrations. Tickets and more information here.
The following day sees the opening of an exhibition of works by Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari, Dark Water. Cat has written music for the featured short film, performed by Decibel. The opening is from 2-4pm Saturday 4th of May, at Linden New Art, 26 Acland Street, St Kilda. You can find more on the project here.
Cat has also completed a new work for a premiere in Hamburg, Germany in the St Pauli Elbe tunnel. The new work, entitled Musk, is for 144 musicians and will be premiered on the 24th of May. More information here.
Cat's duo with Lisa MacKinney, Super Luminum, is doing a live to air on PBS FM at 9 pm on the 9th of May. Tune in to PBS on radio at 106.7 FM or online anywhere in the world here.
A new work for Theremin and ensemble, sponsored by an APRA AMC Art Music commission is being written for Miles Brown and the Monash Art Ensemble. It is being recorded for release this month, with a performance date set for June.
Cat is part of a new ensemble for animated notation, directed by Ryan Ross Smith, M.A.N.E. They are performing a free concert as part of the Progress Festival at Monash University, Clayton on May 24 luncthtime at the Jazz Club. The concert features works by Hope, Graiger, Ross Smith, Atlason and Snaebjornsdottor. It’s free and more information is here.
Cat will feature in a panel discussion "Artists + Machines = It's complicated" with Justin Ashworth, Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson of OK EG, as part of the opening of the new Ian Potter Performing Arts Centre festival, Progress. It's free and information about it is here.
