The Australian Bass Orchestra is an orcehstra of  any kind of instrument that will and does play below 200Hz (F below middle C). No note above 200 Hz will be played by the orchestra.

Directed by Cat Hope, the orchestra is putting out a call for proposed and pre-existing works. These can be scored traditionally, graphically, with text, electro-acoustic – this is an open call.

These works can be for any bass instruments, currently the orchestra has access to bass clarinets, contra bass clarinet, double basses, cello’s, electric cello,  bass guitar (acoustic and electric) keyboard (including cathedral organ), harp,  laptops (max MSP and other programs), bassoon, tuba, horn, baritone sax, bass trombone…All other bass instruments will be considered. Please note, the instrument does not have to be a ‘bass instrument’; it should just play bass notes below 200 Hz as outlined above.
